April 20, 2011 was CRCSD's second visit to the 1:1 institute in DSM. This year we decided to take the building principals and seven students ( four middle school students and three high school students) along with us to show the impact 1:1 computing has had on their learning. We presented in two different one hour sessions. Our format for presenting was a question and answer session so participants of the Institute could get the most out of their own participation and learn from our experiences being a 1:1 school in grades seven through twelve with a K-12 technology initiative.
After reading the Twitter feeds, we had great reviews and standing room only in each of our two sessions. It was a great day as our building principals provided their leadership expertise and our students showed examples of their projects they completed to satisfy classroom requirements. There were many questions directed to our students and they all did an outstanding job with their presentations skills and answering the participants questions.
It was great to be able to pay our progress forward to other schools across the Midwest looking to join the 1:1 family. As a District we have a lot to be proud and share. This year we have grown a great deal and I believe we are just beginning to tap into what we really can do with technology and how it tremendously impacts learning for our students.
