In her own way to assess student understanding of character, Mrs. Werges had her students complete a final project called a "Billboard of Character." This billboard project was modeled after the PASS IT ON billboards seen along area interstates and highways. Students reflected on their projects and used the website www.values.com to inspire their work efforts and informational needs. Mrs. Werges developed several requirements students must include within their billboard design, but the students could chose their own method of creation. Some chose to do a Keynote, to use Pages and some chose to use Comic Life.
After their final projects were assessed, Mrs. Werges displayed students' work templates around the school to reinforce the positive character traits of each one of her 7th grade students. It was nice to see the student work during PT conferences, and the various ways students chose to communicate their ideas and thoughts.
