Student presentations to our Board of Education
Clayton Ridge Middle School students shared with our Board of Education some technology curriculum and a T.A.G.projects ideas they have had experience with and in the works this school year.
Two 7th grade students Garrett S. and Spencer G. were inspired in Current Events class by a story on two 17 year old Canadian students who launched a GPS, a digital video camera, and a Lego man into outer space via a weather balloon. The experiment was called "Lego Man in Space."
Garrett and Spencer wanted to mimic a similar experiment and launch a plastic figure of our school mascot, the Bald Eagle. The goal of their presentation was to achieve from the Board positive feedback and financial support to go about this endeavor. The B of E raved about their knowledge and explanation of the project and gave their stamp of approval to help the students make this happen. The educational leader supporting their work with delivering their presentation was given by the K-8 T.A.G instructor and Art teacher: Mrs. Angie Cook.
In addition to the T.A.G. presentation, two ladies: 7th grader Nicole W. and 8th grader Kelly H. presented to the Board of Ed the new science curriculum that has been delivered this year in the 7th and 8th grade Science classes. Discovery Education - Science. The girls put together a short presentation for the Board on the SMART Board. They demonstrated how in DE Science their are virtual labs, interactive content, videos, assessments, and a multitude of topics to learn and explore using DE science. Within their discussion the girls indicated the comprehensiveness of this website and how every topic within a Science curriculum can be identified within DE Science and their is ample work to meet the needs of every learner within the classroom. The ladies did a fantastic job with their presentation and the Board was very inquisitive about the delivery of DE Science in the classroom setting.
