One of our HS science teachers, Mr. Pfaffly has embraced and devoted a significant amount of time and energy to involve students in their learning while using their laptops. Mr. Pfaffly has created a wiki site for his Earth Science, Chemistry and Physics classes. http://science4students.pbworks.com
In his science wiki space, students can find calendars, handouts, daily assignments, discussions, presentation slides, videos. etc...to facilitate their learning.
Also, in his collaborative efforts, he is one of the first teachers at Clayton Ridge to pursue a distance learning component with our 1:1 learning environment and his Physics students. (OnlinePhysics is the the joint physics website for the 2010-2011 year for the classes taught by Jim Pfaffly at Clayton Ridge HS and Mike Dillon at Postville HS. Both schools are located in northeastern Iowa.) Much of their collaborative efforts are being completed with Skype, Google services, Edmodo and email.

Mr. Pfaffly has been open to ideas and to learning right along with the students in our digital learning environment. He is has been an innovator, an organizer, a leader, a problem solver, a risk taker and an advocate of using technology in the classroom. He demonstrates exactly what we want students to do with their 21st century thinking skills.
