And so it begins...

Year Two of our Digital Learning Environment.   A lot of smiling faces across the District.

August 25, 2011 - Our students were reacquainted with their laptops and took off running.   New students, incoming 7th grade students and students who attended our District's parochial school attending a "Roll Out" session.  All other students acquired their laptops in their Advisory classes first thing Day 1 of class.  The "Roll Out" session was facilitated by Keystone Consultants: Travis Geuder and Deb Henkes, Building Principals, Mr. Dikkers and me.  The point of the "Roll Out" gave students/parents procedural knowledge, expectations, digital citizenship responsibilities, and some HOW TO advice.  Parents/students were also encouraged to use this time to ask questions about 1:1 computing.

For the most part...students were able to log on, SYNC their machines, and take off running with their class work.  Over the summer months, Mr. Dikkers and I worked collaboratively to get computers a new mobile client filter with AEA1, get computers imaged, inventoried, repaired, cleaned up for students' use.

We did discover it would be in our best interest and students' best interest to clean up/weed files on their desktops/documents folder at the end of the year.  As we've discovered it has taken a significant amount of time to SYNC computers who have large numbers of files in the two locations on their server space.

If a student was patient, the progress was a success.  If time was not on their side, students have seen some connectivity issues that need some guidance to correct.
